How to Restore Deleted Pictures from Recycle Bin or Trash?

Pictures are the integral part memories in our daily life. They are very important to us because they capture those best memories of our daily life. We save them in safe devices such as our PC. However human errors are inevitable and there are always occasions you may accidentally delete pictures from computer recycle bin (if you are using Windows) or trash (for Mac users). And wonder whether there is a way to undelete those photos.

Problem:

1. Delete pictures by carelessly emptying the recycle bin or trash without realizing the precious pictures are out there.
2. Delete nice pictures taken from long journey with SHIFT + DEL (under Windows system) when deleting 'not-so-good' pictures.
3. Mistakenly delete folders full of camera pictures in personal computer, thinking they should go to the recycle bin or trash. But the result is they are not there. How could this possible and any chance to undelete photos?

Are the pictures deleted permanently?

The answer is definitely negative. For those who used Windows DOS should know there is such undelete function even if the picture are accidentally wiped from the recycle bin. Only after later Windows operation systems such as current XP, Vista or Windows 7, such undelete button disappears. But that doesn’t mean we cannot undelete files we mistakenly delete. As a matter of fact, those pictures deleted from recycle bin are still stored on the sectors of the computer hard drive, waiting to be occupied. If you are using Mac OS X and delete pictures from the trash, it’s similar. Only after those deleted pictures are fully written over, they are deleted permanently.

Solution

As long as those pictures are not fully overwritten, it is highly possible to undelete them from recycle bin or trash. And the best way is to try picture recovery software.

Useful Tips: Before clicking on "Empty", make sure to double check exactly what is in your recycle bin. If you have pictures there, you can highlight the ones that got mistakenly sent there and click on RESTORE option to put them back to their original locations.
