What Is Windows 98?

Windows 98 is a widely-installed product in Microsoft's evolution of the Windows operating system for personal computers. It is an improved version for Microsoft Windows 95, and was codenamed Memphis and named after the year it was released (1998).

Compared with previous versions of Windows, Windows 98 offers numerous new features, including:
Provide a 32-bit file allocation table (FAT) that allows users to have a single-partition disk drive larger than 2 Gbytes
Came with support for USB (Universal Serial Bus) built-in, which makes it easy to plug in new devices
Support Digital Versatile Disc (DVD)
Support a new industry-standard form of power management called Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)
Integrate Internet Explorer 4.0 into the desktop shell

There are two releases of Windows 98: the first edition and second edition. From a version standpoint, both are considered version 4.1 (with all Windows 95 releases considered v4.0). Second edition, referred by Microsoft as Windows 98SE, is a paid upgrade from the first edition released in 1999. It includes fixes for many minor issues, improved USB support, and the replacement of Internet Explorer 4.0 with Internet Explorer 5.0.

Recover Lost Picture in Data Transferring from Camera to Computer

Have you ever been troubled by this? You were cautiously transferring your picture from camera to computer, but somehow the picture “disappeared”. You wondered how it could happen and wanted to recover lost picture, while sometimes you successfully recover lost picture, sometimes you just failed.
Here I’d like to tell you some scenarios which may cause picture loss and how to recover lost picture in data transferring from camera to computer.

Some scenarios cause picture loss

1. After connecting the camera to computer, you start transferring your picture. Accidentally you touch the data wire, causing the USB disconnected. Not all the pictures are successfully transferred and some are lost.

2. The sudden power-off of the camera or computer could lead the picture lost too. Once that happens, the transferring process would be interrupted forcibly, and some of your pictures might be lost.

3. If your computer doesn’t have enough space to store more pictures, the data transferring would not be finished until some space is released. If you “cut”-“paste” the picture and keep on transferring it, the picture would be lost.

4.The virus! If your picture is affected with virus, when you transfer it from camera to computer, the anti-virus software in your computer may kill the virus by deleting the picture automatically. The virus is erased but your picture is also erased.

How to recover lost picture after picture loss

After you lost picture in data transferring from camera to computer, search it immediately in both the camera and the computer. If you previously chose to “cut” the picture but failed to “paste” it on the computer, you may try pasting it again (paste in a place where there is enough space). If the picture can be pasted again, congratulations, your picture is back.

If the picture is still lost, you may try some photo recovery software. After the picture was lost, the data are not always lost, just not visible or readable because the entry index of the system makes a special mark on those data hinting this area can be written over by other new data. So keep in mind: do not put more pictures or other data in the same place where your lost picture was stored, since once you put other new files in it, this free space will be overwritten by others, which makes it difficult to recover lost picture.

One recommended software is Wondershare photo recovery. It can recover lost picture from digital cameras and computers. As one professional and risk-free photo recovery software, it helps you recover lost picture with good quality. The supported formats include JPG, BMP, TIF, PNG, PSD GIF, ZIP, RAR, and so on. At the same time, the trial version can let you preview the effects in the thumbnail to see whether your pictures are recoverable or not. Here my suggestion is to scan the camera and computer both, improving the success rate of recovering lost picture.

Tips:

If possible, “copy” but not “cut” picture if you want to “paste” it in another place. Since we cannot always guarantee that everything works well while transferring picture from camera to computer. And if possible, do backup, a very good way to protect our data.

How to recovery photos,?

I was transferring my photos from my laptop to USB, and the laptop crashed, and now in the folder, all I can see his shortcut of the pictures, and nothing on the USB. But when I click on the short cut link, it can’t locate the required photo.
I used the software Recover my files, which located the files, and created a Thumbs.dm file, and then I used the DM Thumbs software to get the photos back, but the size and quality of the photos is really bad…
Any way to get the original photo backs; the folder is located within the C: drive.

Help! Trying to recover some lost files!?

Not too long ago I copied about 166 photos of my parents' Europe trip from a CF card to the computer and placed it in a folder called 'Photos'. I looked at the desktop; there was nothing on the desktop and no programs in the toolbar so I assumed that everything was copied over, and proceeded to shutdown. Now it is gone, and I don't recall anybody in the family to have deleted that folder. I tried using Recuva but I could only get back less than 8 photos... So my question(s) are: was it really accidentally deleted? How come I could only salvage so little photos when originally there was a lot? Could I still recover them?

Intell said:
I didn't read all of your description because its long lol, but there are a lot of programs that can recover lost files. I've listed one in the sources. Make sure you put the CF card in the computer and scan it for the pictures. Good luck.

What Is Windows 95?

Windows 95 is a graphical user interface-based operating system designed for workstations at home or business. It was released in 1995 by Microsoft to be intended to integrate Microsoft's formerly separate MS-DOS and Windows products.

Windows 95 represents a significant advance over its precursor, Windows 3.1, most visibly in the graphical user interface (GUI). Following are some of the new features that Windows 95 is a widely-installed product in Microsoft's evolution of the Windows operating system for personal computers not.

Plug and Play: Allow hardware devices to be automatically installed into the computer with the proper software. Do not require jumpers to be played with jumpers to be played with.

32 Bit: 32-Bit operating system allows the computer to run faster and more efficiently.

Registry: Combine the power of multiple configuration files into two files, allowing the system configurations to be located easier.

Memory: Windows 95 has an improved memory handling processes compared to Windows 3.11

Right mouse click: Allow you new access and text manipulation by utilizing both buttons instead of one.

CD-Player: Enhanced CD-Player with improved usability and AutoPlay feature.

Although Windows 95 can run older Windows and DOS applications, it has essentially removed DOS as the underlying platform. This has meant removal of many of the old DOS limitations, such as 640K of main memory and 8-character filenames.

What Is Windows 7?

Windows 7 is the latest public release version of Microsoft Windows, a series of operating systems produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, netbooks, tablet PCs, and media center PCs.[3] Windows 7 was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009,[4] and reached general retail availability on October 22, 2009,[5] less than three years after the release of its predecessor, Windows Vista. Windows 7's server counterpart, Windows Server 2008 R2, was released at the same time.

Windows 7 new features have attracted a lot of people. And below are the favorite Windows 7 features by ZDNet Asia editor and others.

1. Pressing the Windows logo key together with the Left/Right Arrow keys will snap and maximise the current window to the left/right sides of the screen. I find this a terrific way to organize my windows quickly on my widescreen desktop, so that my e-mail window fills up the left half of the screen while my Web browser fills up the right half.

2. I used to install Snagit to capture screenshots, but now with Windows 7 I use the built-in Snipping Tool, which works almost as well as Snagit. The Snipping Tool lets me capture rectangular and free-form snippets of the screen.

3. Connecting Windows 7 to a projector is a lot simpler--I just press Windows+P to switch the projection on/off and to mirror or extend the desktop to the projector.

4. The Windows 7 Calculator has plenty of new useful features: Scientific, programmer and statistics functions, unit conversion (e.g. km to miles, celsius to fahrenheit) and date calculation (e.g. how many days old are you?).

5. Virtual XP Mode is very useful for running legacy applications that don't work with Windows Vista/7.

Minimum hardware requirements for Windows 7
Architecture 32-bit 64-bit
Processor 1 GHz 32-bit processor 1 GHz 64-bit processor
Memory (RAM) 1 GB of RAM 2 GB of RAM
Graphics Card DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM driver model 1.0 (For Aero)
HDD free space 16 GB of available disk space 20 GB of available disk space

What Is DOS?

DOS, an acronym for Disk Operating System, in a general sense, DOS refers to just about any operating system. More commonly, it describes the operating system Microsoft developed in 1981 for IBM's line of personal computers. Though syntactically distinct, DOS shares similarities with a Unix shell. It has a command-line interface and analogs to many common Unix commands. However, DOS is a 16-bit, single-user operating system that does not support multi-tasking. It is far easier to administer than Unix, but less powerful. Compared to graphical interfaces such as Windows and Mac OS X, it's also not particularly user-friendly.

With the development of Windows, MS-DOS has faded in importance. However, you can still run some DOS commands at the command prompt in current versions of Windows, which can be useful in situations where a graphical interface is less efficient.

For some time, it has been widely acknowledged that DOS is insufficient for modern computer applications. Microsoft Windows helped alleviate some problems, but still, it sat on top of DOS and relied on DOS for many services. Even Windows 95 sat on top of DOS. Newer operating systems, such as Windows NT and OS/2 Warp, do not rely on DOS to the same extent, although they can execute DOS-based programs. It is expected that as these operating systems gain market share, DOS will eventually disappear. In the meantime, Caldera, Inc. markets a version of DOS called DR-OpenDOS that extends MS-DOS in significant ways.

At electronic stores you should be able to find memory-card readers for about 10 or 15 Euros. Try with one of those (hook it up to your PC). Other than that... sorry, but wiping is usually a permanent thing.

How can I retrieve photos from a formatted SD memory card? (I've tried different softwares)?

I only had few photos (maybe 20) in the memory card, so I thought this should be a simply task, which hasn't been.

First I tried that Stellar photo recovery software, it scanned EVERYTHING from all kinds of sources and some images said "file corrupted" and I cannot view a preview - then I checked some online forums and I realized even if the scan is successful, if I want to SAVE the recovered photos to my computer I have to pay for the license. BTW it did not recover ANY of the photos from the mem card, but it did recover some other useless images that I don't even know where they came from.

I'm now using Recuva software and it's still scanning after I pressed the "scan from all drives" option, since when I pressed "scan from drive E (removable)" it "did not find any files" - which is so funny because the mem card IS in drive E removable disk. This software is supposedly free to scan AND use (meaning to save?).

I don't know what the problem is. I simply formatted the memory card so the images MUST still be there even though it said in my camera that ''formatting will delete'' because from what I read.. formatting does not delete the actual file, which is really just hidden there somewhere.

The reason why I chose to format was because I believe the memory card got a virus from my laptop, which got it from my co-worker's usb, which he claimed was already cleaned from the 70 viruses it got. Yeah, what an idiot because he did not bother asking me permission if he could use his usb on my laptop >:( btw my laptop was already all rebooted and cleaned up (unfortunately the card was already infected and I just formatted like, awhile back, in desperate measures to recover the photos in it).

I'm not really that knowledgeable about computers so pls. help me out. Thank u in advance. sorry about the rant.

You should try to recover your files from SD card again with Easy Drive Data Recovery software:

It uses unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software either recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.

First of all please make sure that the virus in the memory card are cleaned off. Sometimes the virus will make your photo files hidden or deleted.

If your photos are hidden, just use some antivirus to clean the virus and your photos will be visible again.

If they are deleted by the virus, it's still recoverable even if you have formatted the sd card. As you know formatting won't meke photos files deleted permanently. You said you have tried a few photo recovery software. I have no idea whether you have chosen the right one because different photo recovery programs have different preferences and recovery abilities. Here is Top 6 Free Photo Recovery Software, it's worth for your try.

Any Way to Recover Images from Nikon Camera?

Do you still remember the hero of the film “The Bridges of Madison County”? The camera that charming press-photographer was holding is just Nikon F. Undoubtedly the Nikon cameras have been popular for many years. The exquisite craft, high quality, and structural disabilities attract a large number of people. Look at the now Nikon D90, users are fascinated with its extraordinary image effects.

But still we may meet image loss for the following reasons: accidentally deleting, formatting, virus attack, unexpected power off, and other reasons like the incompatibility of the card. Take formatting for example, we may switch off the camera or plug off the USB during previous data transfer or read/write process, and when we connect the camera to the computer, the following error message may pop up: “Card not formatted.” Sometimes we have no way but to format it. Of course, doing backup is the best way to avoid image loss. But we might not always remember that. So is there any way to recover images from Nikon camera?

Of course there is. Actually there are many different ways to recover images. For example, asking help from the friends around, but they may neglect some details; going to photo recovery specialist or agencies, but that would be a little costly. Here one professional and reliable way is photo recovery software. After the images were lost, the data itself isn't deleted; just the area where the lost images were stored is now marked as free space for other new files to be written. Photo recovery software can scan these areas and recover the lost images. Here are 3 tips to recover images from Nikon camera.

Tip 1: Avoid data overwriting

Do not put more images or other data in the same place where the lost images were stored, otherwise the previous free space will be overwritten by others, which makes it difficult to recover images even with professional recovery software.

Once you find your images could be recovered, do not save them in the same place where the lost images were stored. For example, if you want to recover images from partition H:, you should specify a folder to save the images in partition E: or other partition, not partition H:.

Tip 2 Keep well the storage device

Keep well your camera or the card. Generally when the storage device meets logical damage like reformatting or unintentional deletion, the lost data is recoverable. But when it meets physical damage such as exposure to high temperature, dropping, cracking, or water damage, the data will be very much likely unrecoverable.

Tip3: Choose the appropriate software

DAs for me, appropriate software should have these features: professional and powerful recovery function, be safe and reliable, high compatibility and competitive price.

Wondershare Photo Recovery could be one of the good choices. It is reliable photo recovery software which can easily recover images from Nikon camera with nice quality. Within only 3 simple steps (Select file location→Preview recoverable images →Save the recovered images), just as easy as counting 1-2-3, you can recover images on your own. No any recovery skills needed. The preview thumbnail lets you enjoy the image recovery and evaluate the recovery effects in advance. Powerful recovery ability helps you recover lost images from overall image loss situations.

Notes:

If your OS is Mac OS X,you can download Wondershare Photo Recovery for Mac, which is special designed for Mac users.

Top 10 Popular Video Sharing Websites Review

1. Youtube - Broadcast Yourself

YouTube is a way to get your videos to the people who matter to you. Upload, tag and share your videos worldwide!

When you think of video sharing websites, YouTube naturally comes to mind. YouTube wasn't the first video sharing site, but it has become the best video sharing site through a clever mix of functionality and community.

YouTube is popular throughout the world, not only in America. At present, YouTube was garnering nearly 20 percent of all global traffic on the internet. Its popularity is just one clue that YouTube is the best video sharing website out there.

2. Hulu - Watch your favorites. Anytime. For free.

Hulu allows you to quickly find your favorite TV shows and movies and watch them at your leisure, all while offering a wide variety of features that make it possible to customize your viewing experience just the way you like it. Hulu is designed to give you what you want the way you want it; what more can you ask from a video shareing website?

Hulu doesn't have everything. But it does have much more than you'd expect to find. It doesn't matter what kind of shows you're interested in; Hulu always has something for you. That's why it's such a great entertainment resource.

3. Dailymotion - Online Videos, Music, and Movies. Watch a Video Today!

Dailymotion attracts users from all over the world - this is one of the most popular and diverse video share websites on the web. Most of the videos on Dailymotion tend to be more professional in nature. They have newscasts, commercials and short films.

This video sharing site caters to the audience and offers a lot of audience related features. You can search videos with a search box or browse the many categories to find your favorite videos. And all of the movies have picture previews.

4. Metacafe - Online Video Entertainment - Free video clips for your enjoyment

Metacafe takes the user experience very seriously; it offers quality videos and a dedicated review system that keeps content up to high standards.

Metacafe is now based in California, but it was actually started in Tel Aviv, Israel. Despite beginning outside of the United States, it has created a huge following in America, not to mention most other English-speaking countries.

5. MEGAVIDEO - I'm watching it

MEGAVIDEO is one of the best video sharing website that you can go to for free movie viewing. You can view all kinds of movies here that are just out in theater. I have saw tons of movies here already and including my favorite which is Twilight and Bedtime stories. I also love Yes Man and Seven Pounds and these are the ones that I've seen recently.

This site probably does some kind of deals with the filmmaker in order to release it out on the net or it could be owned by the studios as we just don't know but as long as it's legal then we can watch it. Most of these sites are legal or else they'll be out of business.

6. Video – MySpace Video

MySpace is a leading worldwide social network that offers customization of your profile and image on the web.

It always looks like an art box threw up on the screen and then started playing terrible music at me in an attempt to finish me off.

Still one of the best social networking sites. Not for the friends, but for the music. Listen to almost any band and discover new songs.

7. Yahoo! Search - Video Search

Frankly, Yahoo! Video isn't a place for regular people to post their videos, it's just one giant commercial. Add to this the fact that the viewing pane feels cluttered and isn't the easiest to use, and it's easy to see why Yahoo! Video didn't make it higher in the review. It's a cool video sharing site with lots of content, but it either doesn't have what you are looking for or gets upstaged by the top 5 video share websites in this review.

8. Vimeo, Video Sharing For You

Vimeo is quickly becoming both a popular video share site and a social networking site. It's a common place for budding videographers to showcase their short films and original videos to other filmmaking enthusiasts. The site is also popular with a few professionals as a place to store and showcase their work.

9. Funny Videos, Funny Clips & Funny Pictures | Break.com

Break Studios has a variety of topics that pay $8 each. Although many of the topics are geared towards men, there are several in the food, outdoors, sports and movie categories. Writers get paid on the 1st and 15th of every month through PayPal. You can claim up to 10 articles at at time but cannot claim any more until your queue frees up by having an article approved. This is one con that I am hoping they change soon. I would like to be able to write more articles while I'm waiting for my submitted works to be approved. The set up is similar to Demand Studios, but oh so much easier!

10. TV.com - Free Full Episodes & Clips, Show Info and TV Listings Guide

TV.com covers television and focuses on English-language shows made or broadcast in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada,Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Japan. In addition to episode guides, it includes US-oriented news, reviews, interviews, photos, videos, forums, TV listings, and other features. In a word, TV.com is a compositive video site.

3 Steps to Retrieve Images from Olympus Camera

As is well known, Olympus cameras are spread all over the world. Just a few days ago, Olympus released X-560WP,which has good water-proof ability, high ISO and shutter speed. It decreases the possibilities of image fog and provides as many as 18 shooting scenes, including figures, nightscape, landscape, movement, etc.

But on one hand, we enjoy the new experience cameras bring to us; on the other hand, we worry about the image loss which may occur. Image loss is a common problem we might meet when we are taking photos. Sometimes it is because of our carelessness, such as accidentally deleting or formatting, while sometimes it is because of unpredictable factors, like power off, virus infection, or the sudden failure of card. But how can we retrieve images from Olympus camera?

Generally speaking, we can retrieve images by some photo recovery software. Before retrieving images, you should remember do not put more files or other data in the same place where the lost images were stored. Because after the images were lost, the data itself isn't lost; just the area where the lost images were stored is now marked as free space for other new files to be written. So once you put other data in it, this free space will be overwritten, which makes it difficult to retrieve lost images.

Free download, install and start Wondershare Photo Recovery. Here are the 3 steps to retrieve images:

Retrieve images step 1:

Connect the camera to the computer. If your lost images are in the card, getting a card reader and connect it to your computer is OK. Once the device can be detected, it will appear as a drive letter like (H :) in your computer.

Retrieve images step 2:

Select the camera or the card (where your lost images were stored) as a target disk, click NEXT button, and then the scanning process begins. After that, check whether the lost images can be previewed in the thumbnail. If they are recoverable, buy the full version.

Retrieve images step 3:

Save the recovered photos in another place, not the one where the lost images were. For example, if you want to retrieve images from partition H:, you should specify a folder to save the images in partition E: or other partition, not partition H:.

Follow the above 3 steps one by one, you will find retrieving images is not as difficult as you thought, and photo recovery software is very helpful. But no matter what, the best way to save the trouble of image loss is to do backup.
